We make crochet patterns for animals who can't say thank you.

Our story
It started with a lopsided mouse
The first PetsYarn pattern wasn't meant to be a pattern at all. It was a small, slightly wonky mouse made from leftover cotton, and our cat carried it from room to room for three years.
When friends asked how to make one, we realised how few crochet patterns are written with animals in mind. Most toy patterns use plastic safety eyes. Most dog sweater patterns assume every dog is shaped the same. Almost none mention which yarns survive teeth.
So we started writing our own. Today PetsYarn is a small studio that designs, tests and publishes patterns for cats and dogs, and shares everything we learn along the way on the blog.
What we believe
Three rules every pattern follows
No plastic eyes, no small parts, no fluffy yarns on toys. If a design can't be made safely, we don't publish it.
Our wearables are fitted on real dogs of different shapes, and every pattern includes length and chest adjustments.
Patterns are worked through row by row before release. If a step isn't completely clear, we rewrite it.
How a pattern is made
From first sketch to your inbox
- Design
Sketches, swatches and the first prototype, usually rejected.
- Pet trial
The prototype goes to its audience. Toys are chewed, beds are slept on.
- Testing
Dedicated makers follow the written pattern and report every unclear line.
- Publish
Photo tutorials, US & UK versions and a final safety check.
