Materials & Sizing Specifications

  • Main Body Yarn: Approx. 85 g of Category #3 DK / Light Worsted yarn in White / Soft Cream.
  • Contrast Accent Yarns: Approx. 25 g Fuchsia (for muzzle tip and hooves) and 15 g Mustard Gold (for the spiral horn).
  • Rainbow Mane & Tail Yarns: Small scrap balls (approx. 10–15 g each) in Sky Blue, Lime Green, Lilac Purple, Coral Orange, and Soft Pink.
  • Crochet Hook: 2.5 mm (US C/2). Using a 2.5 mm hook creates tight, dense stitches that prevent polyester stuffing from peeking through.
  • Embroidery Details: 1 skein of dark brown or black embroidery floss (for closed sleepy eyes). No plastic safety eyes needed—making this plush wonderfully gentle and child-friendly!
  • Stuffing: 80–100 g high-resilience polyester fiberfill.
  • Notions & Tools: Locking stitch markers, tapestry yarn needle, sharp embroidery scissors, and dressmaker pins.

Mane Base Cap (In Cream)

  • Rnds 1–7: Work standard flat amigurumi circle increases up to [5 sc, inc] × 6 (42 sts). FO with 40 cm tail. This cap is sewn behind the ears so mane curls can be pinned securely in place!

Rainbow Corkscrew Curls

  • 12 Long Mane Curls (Assorted Rainbow Yarns): Chain 30. Starting in 2nd ch from hook, work 3 sc in each of the next 22 chains, and 2 sc in each of the final 7 chains (80 sc). Fasten off; twist gently with your fingers to form a springy corkscrew!
  • 6 Short Tail Curls (Assorted Rainbow Yarns): Chain 15. Starting in 2nd ch from hook, work 3 sc in each of the next 12 chains, and 2 sc in each of the last 2 chains (40 sc). Fasten off.
  • 3 Flower Rosettes: In Pink/Green/Yellow, work 10 sc in MR (10), followed by 10 sc (10). Roll into a small cup rosette and fasten with a sewing tail.

Part 5: Assembly & Sleepy Eyes

  1. Sitting Pose Legs: Pin the two flattened leg tops side-by-side to the lower front of the body across Rounds 1–5. Sew securely so the unicorn sits flat and balanced without toppling.
  2. Arms: Pin the 6-stitch arm tops to the sides of Body Round 34. Angle the hooves forward and stitch in place.
  3. Head: Center the head onto the open 12-stitch neck rim, with the fuchsia muzzle pointing straight forward. Add a small pinch of stuffing to the neck joint to keep it firm, then sew around the perimeter catching both layers.
  4. Ears & Horn: Sew the golden horn at the crown of the head. Pin the ears symmetrically on either side around Round 27, leaving approx. 10 stitches between them. Sew the 3 flower rosettes directly at the front base of the horn.
  5. Mane & Tail: Stitch the circular mane cap to the back of the head. Sew the 12 long curls staggered across the cap, tumbling over the neck and shoulder. Sew the 6 short tail curls in a cluster at the lower back (Round 8).
  6. Sleepy Eyes: Using dark brown embroidery thread, embroider gentle downward-curved sleeping eyes between Rounds 11 and 13 on either side of the muzzle. Add tiny diagonal eyelashes at the outer corners for that classic sweet expression!
